Hipstamatic

Well, this head cold certainly came on fast and furious! I was planning on going to ballet last night, but bailed because my nose wouldn't stop running. I figured a relaxing night and heading to bed early would be just what I needed to nip this thing. And yet, still stuffed this morning. I'll definitely be taking a lunch trip to QFC to get some 12-hour cold relief--blearg! I feel like I just got over that last crap! Thanks, body... just, thanks...

Tonight is the first show of our closing weekend at Volunteer Park and I am so sad to be leaving the forest of Arden... These last 6 weeks absolutely flew by and seriously, I could do this show forever. I am definitely gonna miss all the wonderful peeps... Man... now I'm all sad panda. I am really hoping that we all go out post-show tonight and do something after closing tomorrow afternoon. I really just wanna milk all the time with my Ardenites that I can!

For our return to the Hill, I am rocking a super-hipster look: olive ruffle-front Zara tunic with my Aprie straw hat, Sperry Top-Siders from Nordys and gold chain from a boutique in the UD. I am also wearing my giant black cocktail ring, gifted bejeweled bracelet and black H&M military jacket (for if it gets cooler tonight). Excited to head back up the Hill & into the forests of Arden!

Off Duty

So ready for the weekend, for realzies. I need some sleep and relaxation... and some time to get off book. Blearg! We open in 2 weeks. Yup, TWO WEEKS! Crazytimes!

Rehearsal outside tonight and what I wouldn't give for the weather to be like it was yesterday or the day before... I am actually planning a trip home to change into something warmer before heading over to Sand Point... So that I will not freeze when the wind blows off the water.

I am wearing my matty m gold bead embellished maroon racer-back tank from Nordys with my H&M military jacket, thrifted Gap cropped black pants and Sam Edelmann snake skin-ish bronze pointy-toed flats. Adding my Aprie straw hat for outside and it's def cute, but NOT the warmest of outfit choices.

PS Check out my helmet head? What's up with that?!

We're Here! Shakespeare! Get Used to It!

Oh, Solstice parade. So many naked bikers... and so few of them attractive. The route is long, most people could not hear our Shakespeare. And yet, so much fun.

I wore my matty m orange tank from Nordys, white and grey pinstriped pants and long grey boyfriend sweater both from Fossil, straw Aprie hat and mutli-colored scarf from India.

Red Stripe

Whoo-hoo! Today was absolutely gorgeous! Jess and I went for a walk this morning and then I headed to rehearsal where I overshot by about 40 minutes thinking that I would have to fight UW commencement traffic, but there wasn't any, so I was able to sit outside and enjoy the
lovely weather for a little longer... I was supposed to see a movie this afternoon too, but I passed on it to get a late lunch and sit in the sun drinking with Dani (because what's better in the summer than a drinking in the middle of the day for no reason?).

Then I hit up Howl and let me just say that the line was absolutely
ridiculous! But I guess that's what you get from a single screening of the Allen Ginsberg biopic starring James Franco (with a little Jon Hamm, Jeff Daniels and Mary Louise Parker thrown in).

Today I wore my H&M red striped blouse, Pitaya cropped jeans and gold Zara sandals with my straw Aprie hat.

Hot Hot Hat

Yesterday, after spending $100 on new books at Elliott Bay Bookstore (including the new Sookie Stackhouse!), I wandered into a store on Broadway that is usually far too spendy for me, only to chance upon the perfect straw fedora. And on sale, too! The salesgirl even said as I was buying it, "I couldn't tell if that was ours or if you already owned it. It suits you so well." and $10 later I walked out with a new hat! Success!

With my new straw fedora from Aprie, I am wearing an empire-waisted blue-grey Zara tunic, bdg dark denim jeans from UO and grey plastic Target shoes. I also threw on my thrifted black 3/4-length sweater for the office (it's always chilly).

I saw two movies yesterday and, honestly, they could not have been more different. Like I said last post, my Mama, Seestor and I went to see an Iron Man 2 matinee and I really liked the movie. It definitely is an example of superhero genre movie serving as a character study (a la the reinvigorated Batman franchise) instead of relying purely on the WHAM, BAM, POW crazy-insane fights that often plague other superhero movies. It was a nice continuation of the first Iron Man and props to director, Jon Favreau (who also plays Happy), for giving himself a pretty kick-ass fight sequence!

Lindy and I then wandered around Elliott Bay and grabbed lunch at the Elysian before splitting up. Then I wandered slowly down Broadway, killing time and ending up at Roy Street Coffee and Tea (the Starbucks designer coffee store) reading before my next movie Todd Solondz's Life During Wartime started at Harvard Exit.

It was an interesting movie. A continuation of the characters and story he started in Happiness (but with different actors) and if you like Todd Solondz movies (Welcome to the Dollhouse, Happiness, Palindromes) you would probably like this movie. It is very dark (pedophilia, growing up, forgetting, forgiving, lying, suicide...), but also super-hilarious. Definitely a black, black comedy. And Allison Janney, Ciaran Hinds and Shirley Henderson (Moaning Myrtle) were brilliant. Plus fun little cameo from Gaby Hoffmann (of Now & Then fame), Paul Reubens (aka Pee-wee Herman) and Ally Sheedy (Breakfast Club, anyone?). I liked it, but then I like movies like this...

Then I got to walk home (downhill, thank you very much) learning that I am almost directly below Harvard Exit, just ya know, with I-5 in between...
