Embracing the Absurd

turtleneck: H&M, vest: Macy's, jeans: J Brand from Nordstrom, boots: Steve Madden, hat:  H&M
So, let's just get this outta the way first. Yes, the fuzzy thing on my head is a (new) hat.  No, I am not wearing it ironically.  Therefore, I am not a hipster, just an adorable 20-something with a warm head.  Thank you.  Moving on...

Yay, Industry Night!  Which was true to it's name bringing in mostly other performers around town and upping the laughter level to quite distracting (in a good way).  Love me some Kate!  That girl has the best laugh ever and it makes me happier than I can say that she was able to make it to the show last night (and that she enjoyed it!  FTW!)

Also, speaking of totes random:  I am not the only one who has dropped my cell phone in a toilet.  A new study shows 1-in-5 (ONE IN FIVE) young people have dropped a phone in a toilet!  It's not just me (MOM)!  Woohoo!  Also, goes on to say a lot of what I have been thinking about concerning addiction to smart phones (I am trying to ween myself out of mine and losing it for 3 weeks DEFINITELY helped).

Oh yeah, and PS for those who didn't hear LAURENCE FOUND MY PHONE!  It was sitting on a black garbage bag underneath where we hang up our costumes in the greenroom blending in and (of course) dead, but had it not been dead we probably would have found it right away (NEVER not plugging my phone in ever again!).  I know exactly what happened: I was playing with it and had to make a quick change during tech, brought it into the dressing room with me, set it on the garbage bag to get into costume then went onstage, finished the show, got notes and when I came back into the greenroom had completely forgotten about it... Laurence found it Fri night and it has been a glorious reunion ever since!  BUT this time I will not become addicted to it.  I swear.  (also pretty sure this makes Gina mytouch: 1; Lindy mytouch: 3--I mean, if we were keeping track...)

Ranchero Bravisimo

blouse: Express, vest: Macy's, jeans: j brand from Nordstrom, booties: MIA from Nordstrom Rack, accessories: small black beaded necklace and red hoop earrings
Yesh... Seriously, yesh.  I feel like I have been running around like a crazy person with zero to no down time and am in need of a day of lying in bed watching Netflix or (dare I say it) sleeping in.  Plus, I would love to be able to save some money and cook for myself or, I dunno, maybe spend more than 2 waking hours in my apartment.  I think the cat is starting to hold a grudge.  But this is how tech/dress/opening week always looks. The final push toward the finish.  And we need all the tech/work that we can get!

At least I'm not called until 6:45 tonight which means I can get some of that home foodz/cat luvin' time in before heading to tech.  I just dunno how I am gonna sustain myself for the next week... I need to grocery shop so badly it actually hurts.  I am pretty sure I don't have any quick-cook food left and shopping before heading home would just negate the time that I would have AT home... conundrum.

On another note, I did finalize my Halloween costume on Saturday night.  Styling my wig and figuring out the little details that always make the costume that much better.  Now, I just can't wait to WEAR IT!  Yay!

Vacation Creation

tee: Threadless, jeans: bdg from Urban Outfitters, vest: Macys, shoes: Sperry Top-Siders from Nordstom
Today, ah!  Second full day of vaca, lovin' it!  Again, we got a supes late start and it was great.  Went shopping downtown Walla Walla and hit up a few wineries on Main Street (yeah, that's the actual name of their main street downtown).  It only took like an hour or two to hit up the entirety of the downtown area.  It was fun times.  Low key.  Good.

And can I just complain for half a second about beds/pillows that are TOO soft.  I mean, I sleep on an effing futon.  I am used to and enjoy hard beds and the one I am sleeping in right now?  WAAAAY too soft.  I seriously am having trouble sleeping on it.  Between that and the fact that it is SOOOO ridic quiet?  I miss my hard-ass bed and loud-ass apartment.  But, what can I do?  Small town vacation=quiet nights...

Other than that though... totes lovin' vacation!

In Full Bloom

I get a haircut tonight! That is like the highlight of my life right now. Seriously. I have needed one for a WHILE now... and I made an appointment for my girl's first available time period this week. I'm gonna let her go as short as she wants (for once) as well. SO EXCITED!

I have now officially made plans for every single night this week which, I have to say, I am very excited about. Haircut tonight, tomorrow I get a massage, Thurs I am getting a little spa treat for myself followed by some FFOK and Fri Dani & I are grabbing drinks and then going to see Man of La Mancha at Taproot! Plus I might hit up Schmorg on Sat... Busy but awesome first week off!

Last night Matt, his bf and I all went to see Scott Pilgrim vs The World, grabbing drinks at Buckley's and running into Anne beforehand! It was so much fun! Great to catch-up with Matt & David, AMAZING to see Anne (who is busier than I am, swear to god) and the movie effing ROCKED! Seriously! I'd say by about 1/3 of the way into it, I was contemplating how much the end would have to suck for me NOT to buy it (it didn't--this movie will be on my shelf as soon as it's released). It is definitely a movie for our comic book, video game, slo-mo battle, Super Nintendo, confusing relationships, ambiguous sexuality generation too... Pretty sure that if you are over-40 this movie would be a lot less hilarious and a lot more confusing. Plus it really made me want every little thing I did right after the movie ended to be accompanied by awesome sound effects! GO SEE IT! Seriously! I might even wanna go again, so let me know!

Concentrating on the haircut at the end of the day! So much goodness in that! And because I always like hair accessories with my longer hair, I am wearing my white flower headband from Claire's(!), $6 H&M black skirt with my cream kimchi blue tunic from UO, black cap-sleeved cropped sweater from Macy's and Linea Paolo black grommeted flats from Nordys. I am also accessorizing with my silver & black beaded bracelets, giant black cocktail ring and long black beaded necklace.

Oh Mondays... Thank god I have to movie to look forward to...

Scaled Down

Holy crap! Today is, literally, insane! Can I talk about how happy I am that we don't have a pickup rehearsal tonight? Oh SOOO happy... I mean, come on! I SLEPT THROUGH my alarm... SLEPT THROUGH IT! WTF?! My phone told me so ("alarm automatically shuts off after 10 minutes"). That means that I somehow managed to hear 10 minutes of incessant "beep-beep-beep-beep"-ing and not wake up... DAMN!

Thank GOD the roomie knocked saying "hey, it's 8, are you getting up?" and then GAH!!!! Total freak out! Also, thank Steph for picking me up for work, otherwise... there's no telling how late I would have been...

Blearg... I hate that morning stress...

Anyway, went to yoga for the first time in ___ months and it kicked my ass! It was great, but I am now ridic sore (especially my arms, holy crap!). So glad that I decided to shower last nite... THAT would have been gross... Hopefully, I can hit it up again on Sat before our matinée, but I will see how I feel (hello! Slept through the alarm! Might need a little break).

Seestor couldn't come through with the cheapy ticket to Ruined, so the roomie and I are gonna see if we can go sometime next week... Had a nice nite though...

Today I am wearing my white sequined navy blue tank from Nordys with my skinny grey Levis, white Seychelles sailer slingbacks (also from Nordys) and black cap-sleeved cropped sweater from Macys.

Tartan It Up

OK, bad pun, I know... But come on, it's clever, right? Tartan, like tartin'? Right?

Anyway... NV9 was great, as ever. Much shorter this time and without an intermission, which was nice. Plus what a great way to catch up with the peeps I've been missing both onstage AND in the audience! It always makes me feel old, though, being there. SO many Kidstage-ers... All in high school or early college... And they all know each other and everyone else... But still, fun times, for sure!

Tonight I might head out to see Ruined (depending on if the seestor can get me a cheapy ticket or not), but since both of my dates cancelled on me, there is no pressure (thanks, guys...). It is a show I need to see before it closes though...

Also, found out I'm not gonna do Lady M, so I am for SURE working at Annex this fall! W00t! I am super-excited to work with them! I have always wanted to perform in that space and now I get to! Excited to meet my cast and start the process of being a dumb floozy wife obsessed with the monies... Should be a stretch...

Today I am wearing my thrifted black Gap capris with my UO flowy sleeved black tee, reversible red plaid vest from Macys and my Paolo grommeted flats from Nordys. Also rocking my black and silver beaded bracelets and giant black cocktail ring with my mirror earrings.

I really heart this outfit. I've never worn any version of it before and just tried it this morning and supes succeeded! These are my fav fashion moments: reinventing things I already have in my closet. Plus when I throw on my H&M "leather" jacket, I totes look like a Pink Lady! And that makes me smile!

Also, how I'm-about-to-go-save-the-world does that top right photo look? Giant hearts!

Is It a True Thing?

Even though it is technically Sunday, I have not gone to sleep yet, so I consider it Saturday and today was epic. Double Feature Day! We had a show at Woodland Park at 3pm and then a BBQ in between before the 7pm R&J show. It was so much fun! And then it was Jenna's birthday in Fremont. Good day! GOOD DAY!

So, I wore my cream UO tank with my Macy's cap sleeve sweater and Pitaya side-zip cropped jeans with my black bdg saddle shoes also from UO. I looked supes cute!

Summertime and the Livin' is Easy

Seriously, hearting the next 5 days in the weather forecast: 77 today, 89 tomorrow, 92 Thurs and 85 Fri! The heatwave has commenced (I give Seattlites until noon tomorrow before they start complaining about the heat--but you won't hear me contributing!) and I LOVE IT! Keep it up, weather!

So, we open on Fri, yup, FRI! Yipes! It's gonna be good. We have 5 hours of tech rehearsal each night until then, so I think we are in very good shape, but it's still a little insane... Plus, we open in Fall City--boo! I don't even know where that is. But at least opening is a little less pressure since it's so far away. Tonight is also the start of the "oh, god can I get to where I need to be by 6pm when I get off work at 5?" which is why I am getting a ride. But even still, I think it's gonna be tight...

So, today I am wearing my teal Kimchi Blue tank, skinny bdgs, and black gladiators all from UO, black cap-sleeved sweater from Macys.

Bathing Beauty

God help me! I am putting pictures of myself in a swimming suit on the internets, but it is SUCH a cute suit that I cannot help it! I feel like days when I get off work early are just MADE for shopping and I definitely took advantage of that today.

After we got off at 1pm, I hit up American Apparel, H&M and Macys all of which were DISMAL failures before running into Emily at Nordys where she offered to do my make up and then we grabbed a quick bite, revitalizing me for my foray through Nordy's swimwear selections. And I swear to you, I probably would have given up there as well if it hadn't been for Kitty (old friend of a friend) working who helped me find the most perfect swimsuit!

Also, probably would have bought this one (the La Blanca by Rob Beattie 'Sweetheart' One Piece) if it hadn't been $120! I mean, come on! I find the perfect swimsuit and it's more money than my entire outfit! BS! But look how cute it is... Maybe I'll go back at the Anniversary Sale and see if it's on sale! Imagine it with the lipstick, floppy hat and GIANT sunglasses. *sigh* Perfection!

I am wearing my new black polka-dot 2 piece Becca swimsuit from Nordys (and not much else--YIKES!) with my light grey floppy hat from UO, Columbia flip-flops and MAC lipstick in Ruby Woo (rest of my makeup by Emily at Giorgio Armani in Nordys!).

Now, I'm back in regular clothes and about to head to our run through at Volunteer Park tonight! Yay! 7 days!

Cool Cool Summer

OK, so I KNOW I said I wasn't gonna bitch about the (lack of) summer weather here in Seattle, so I'll just let him do it for me. That is all on that.

Yesterday was our first run through (right, we open when again?) and I was actually quite surprised by how well it went. We clearly have a LOT of work to do, but the lines and intent are there, now we just have to make sure we know what we're doing and when we're supposed to be doing it. I also realized that all of my Audrey scenes are SHORT, so as Teresa suggested, she's gonna talk a little slower--gimme more stage time. It's so fun though! And I have these HUGE long breaks... we will fill them up somehow... (card games, anyone?)

I can't wait to get into my corset. That will change everything.

Today and tomorrow we are working trouble spots and then we run again on Fri, I have Sat off for family shtuff (and world cup--w00t!) and then Sun is the 4th AND then we head into tech... crazy times!

I am wearing my Heavenly Couture black sparkly (seriously--"a sparkly") tank with my black Macy's reversible vest over it, my 3/4 length thrifted sweater, cropped side-zip jeans from Pitaya and gladiator sandals from UO.

Turn Around, Bright Eyes

So ready for the weekend. And SUPER wanting a summer break. This working 40 hours a week thing PLUS rehearsal PLUS a social life? This is hard stuff! I wanna go back to my 10-15 hours a week with rehearsals and a RABID social life. That was fun. [le sigh]

Today I get to go to yoga and then (finally!) grocery shopping. No rehearsal until tomorrow when we add dancing to the music we (mostly) cemented last night...

I am wearing my matty m twist strap tank dress from Nordys, black cap sleeve Sweater Project cropped cardigan from Macys, black leggings and bdg black saddle shoes from UO.

I Love the 80's

On my way to the double feature at the Egyptian for Farewell & My Life Without Sex with the Roomie.

Wearing a thrifted floral top, H&M $6 skirt, bright blue leggings from Macy's and Steve Madden black slouch boots.

PS seriously add Buddy Holly glasses on me and I am a hipster's wet dream in this outfit...

Excited!

Woke Up With The Rain

Opening Week! Crazy, I know...

I kinda can't believe that in three days we will be in preview; in four, opening the show, and in six, closing it... WAY too fast.

Today through Wednesday we are in tech. And although I am working today, I have the next two days off (rehearsal 10a-10p). It'll be intense, but I am ridiculously excited for it.

Today, I also have my general audition at Seattle Shakes (because I can never cram too much into my life...) and have been mentally preparing for that all morning. Once I get through Shakes, I can focus on the new cuts in the script for Condo Millennium...

I am wearing my H&M $6 skirt (best impulse buy EVER), black opaque tights, black Steve Madden boots, purple H&M turtleneck and reversible black vest from Macys.

Gearing up for the crazy! And looking forward to sleeping in the next two days...

P.S. Ugh. Terrible picture. I can't wait until I have internets!

Saturday Night and Sunday Afternoon

Once I get teh internetz set up (tomorrow!) I promise weekend posts will be less sporadic, but right now, I'm writing about Saturday.

I spent a good 5 hours cleaning up my old apartment and then turned in my keys and walked home (to the new apartment!) carrying all my cleaning supplies. And I did not take a pic of that outfit... not cute, trust me...

Then I vegged for a bit before getting ready to go see Rimini Protocol at OtB where I got to play a little as an avatar for two hours--super fun! The only issue was when I "bonded" (got married) with another character and that stupid other person really wanted the stupid kids... so I ended up with a little green dot (a stupid kid) following me around for the rest of the game. And very quickly after that we "unbonded" (got divorced). That's a deal breaker, ladies!

I was, however, dressed all cute and enjoying our gorgeous weather. I was wearing my Urban screen print flower tee, scarf gifted from my Nana, H&M $6 skirt, and bright blue sheer leggings from Macys with my Jessica Simpson pink, black and white stub toe flats from Nordys.

And Sunday brought with it MORE b-e-a-utiful weather and M's game tickets. Mama didn't feel like fighting the crowds after dealing with them all day on Saturday (Pike's Place Market was apparently insane), so Lindy and I went alone. AND made new friends in the beer garden, as always. Plus they won! Two homers in a row! w00t! Then dinner with Mama for Mother's Day. Sorry no pics, I was running late, but I was wearing my Griffey tee, currentelliot boyfriend jeans and Sperry Top-Siders both from Nordys. Comfy and cool!
