Double Time

blouse: H&M, pants: Lululemon, oxfords: BDG from Urban, accessories: Charlotte Russe necklace, Relic watch
Since I was busy unpacking (all my clean clothes--YAY!!!!) and reorganizing my clothes, shoes and closet (new shoe rack, since the old one officially bit the dust...), I didn't really have time to post today, so here are two quick and dirty posts.

Basically, I worked 5.5 hours today, yoga'd, organized, showered, napped and rehearsed (first time outdoors--yay!).  Tomorrow I basically do the same thing only shorter working (4 hours) and longer rehearsing followed by (of course) a play tomorrow night.

Sunday, I am officially cheating on the unitard diet to go to sushi with la mama for my bday.  SUCESS!

Accessorize...d

scarf: gifted, bracelet: gifted from Panama, purse: New Charlotte Russe
Yesterdays updated outfit from the morning and early afternoon of wandering downtown in the glorious sun, getting myself an Easter mani/pedi, soaking up the sun as much as possible and playing with Jessica's new kittehs to dinner at Smith, "Sick" at New City Theatre (ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!  Extended through mid-May.  SEE. THIS. SHOW.), Molly Moons and Evan's 30th.  A few small changes, but they made a big difference.  I am in heart with accessories!

Cold & Dignified

sweatshirt: Lululemon gifted, pants: Jolt from Nordstrom, tank: Costco, shoes: Sperry Top-Siders from Nordstrom
Today was one of those super-duper busy and super-duper fulfilling days!  They are so rare, so YAY universe for giving me this one!

We didn't get our rehearsal call until after 10pm last night, but luckily I wasn't called until 230 today allowing me to not only go to yoga, but to also come home (and grab me new Asos shoezies that all fit--YAYERS!) and shower and eat before heading to rehearsal.

Since the two scenes I was called for today were my big Act 2 scenes I even got to be onstage the whole call working and figuring out the when, why of my character.  Definitely have a lot of work, but I feel like every time I touch her she becomes more dynamic, solid.

Tonight I have Sara's comps (thanks, babe!) to Duel of the Linguist Mages at Annex.  Should be good.  Lots of friends in it and I am totes hoping to run into someone I know at the theatre to sit with too!  They just opened last night, so hopefully they will not have that second show slump (I'm sure they're more prof than that--wink) and give us just as good of a show as opening.  PS I realized that I am going to see 3 shows this weekend for a total of $10.50--yay comps!

Tomorrow I was supposed to go skiing with Dani & Nate but since I have rehearsal (most likely...) on Sundays I will be going to that and then heading to Chamber Cymbeline at Shakes tomorrow night.  Then I get a glorious day off!  Although I have absolutely no idea what to do with Mondays off. It feels like the weirdest day ever to have be my weekend...

Shoe Fetish

Tower o' Shoes
For those of you who didn't quite understand my shoe obsession... I hope this clears things up.  I over 50 pairs of shoes (10 of which are boots) and I am constantly looking for new ones... Yes, it's ridiculous, but hey?  I love and wear about 85% of them, so what's the problem?

And 5 of those pairs are shoes for theatre or dance (2 pairs of ballet slippers, 2 pairs of character shoes (1 t-strap & 1 regular) and 1 pair of  tap shoes), so there's that, as well...

Don't judge!

Side Swept

tee: Fluxus from Nordstrom, jeans: bdg for Urban, bolero:  H&M, shoes: vintage (thrifted), accessories: black beaded necklace, ring from Argentina (thanks Dad!)

Friday, at last.  Thank the gods!  Glass Menagerie tonight with Carrie then onto Jake's bday party near my old place in Greenlake.  And tomorrow?  The WORLD (but really, it's just our first stumble through of the show, ya know, no biggie--WAIT!  OUR FIST STUMBLE THRU--HOLY CATNIP, BATMAN!!!!!!)!

My shoes are slowly dying (I heart them--thrifted in college from Red Light, I think) and I have to re-super glue the sole of the left one, but for right now it's double sided tape to the rescue!

I wanna get brunch tomorrow before rehearsal, any takers?  Portage Bay (in SLU) 9 or 930am?  So that I am well-fed and ready to rock the show?  And the M's game after?  Anyone? ...Anyone...?  Bueller?

Also, not so sure how I feel about these side-swept bangs... Thoughts?

Little Boy Blue

blouse: H&M, sweater: thrifted, trousers: eight sixty from Nordstrom, shoes: Dollhouse from DSW
Yesterday was a lovely lazy, rainy day and I spent it catching up on TV & sleep and loved it!  Stayed in my PJ's all day and went to bed early.  If only I could have extended that through today, but no.  I had work.  And a very important audition!  I had my audition for Brecht's Threepenny Opera at Seattle Shakes today and it went super-well!  All parties there (the casting director, director of the show & music director) all seemed uber-impressed and congratulated me after I finished my song, Weill's "Stranger Here Myself"!  *le sigh*  I really hope I get a callback!  I super wanna do that show!  At least that was a good first step...

Rehearsal for 4-hours tonight and then seriously crashing out.  I forget how much it takes out of me to have an audition in the middle of the day.  The thought of rehearsing after work tonight is not exactly making me happy, but I know that the second I get there, it changes.  This show (and my character, in particular) is so high energy, that I get pumped up even if I'm low energy when I get there...

Also, I have gotten SO many compliments on my shoes today!  I need to wear these more often.  They are so cute and fun and I just forget about them.  But in weather like this, they are perfect.  Plus, they are really comfy since the heel is so chunky.  I need to remember to break them outta my closet more that once or twice a season...

Also, my new Michael Kors purse is supposed to arrive tomorrow!  w00t!!!

A Note on Shoes and Purses

I feel like I should explain myself. It's not that I'm obsessed (OK, I'm a BIT obsessed, mostly with shoes), I just really like them. And I feel like if there is one accessory-like item that can completely change the look of an outfit it is shoes and purses.

They are also the part of an outfit that are most easily exchangeable (I think I like coats/jackets for a similar reason) and therefore the most easily accessible. Plus, when you think about it, the only "designer-like" items I have ever thought about purchasing have fallen into one of these two categories. They usually last more than one season (unless you go out and buy one of these, then you're kinda screwed) and don't get hidden in an outfit like other items of clothing can.

Shoes and purses are also a hard thing to buy cheap without looking cheap. The cheap version never lasts either. I wear the SHIT out of my shoes and carry everything and my mother (hey, she's small) in my purses, so I need them to last. I bet I go through a purse a season, and at least one pair of shoes/boots too.

I just felt like you all needed an explanation as to why almost all of my "COVET" posts have been about shoes or purses. And why I want to join Bag, Borrow or Steal.

I Have No Patience...

I want my shoezies NOW!

The Naughty Monkey boots were shipped today (to arrive by 4/23), but I'm going to have to wait until 4/27 for the NYLA wedges...

I still heart Nordys though!

PS How cute would those wedges look with my outfit today (see below)? For cereal peeps...

Just Bought

NYLA wedges (see pic below) and Naughty Monkey over the knee boots (in black NOT brown) both bought! I heart Nordys! You will get the preview of the new shoes as soon as I receive them (next Fri and a week from next Tues!)

COVET

UPDATE: I just bought the NYLA wedges in black! SO EXCITED!

I really love both these NYLA "Dina" caged wedge sandals (top) and the Sam Edelman "Kinley" wedge sandals (bottom). These are super sexy, but also look Spring and Summer-y both from Nordstrom.

I wish I could afford them though... Not that they're anywhere close in price to those Alexander McQueen's I featured over the weekend, but still... It's hard for me to justify paying over $100 for any shoe that's not a boot.

COVET

Alexander McQueen cutout leather ankle boots. A little bit bittersweet in the wake of his recent suicide, but also almost an honor. His final collection was so brilliant it makes me really sad...

I love the scull on the top zipper and that everything is adjustable. Plus check out the spike of that heel! This look is pure HOT!

New: Shoes

Also, just bought these Sperry Top-Siders at Nordstrom! On sale and everything--Excitement!

Linea Paolo flats

I love these shoes.

And I really love the story behind these shoes. They're Linea Paolo, whose shoes are so ridiculously comfortable, but just enough out of my price range that I rarely buy them. And they were on sale at the last Nordstrom half yearly sale. I found the right shoe on the rack (for $60!), like you do, but when I asked the salesperson to help me get the match, he couldn't find it! He looked in every department and every section, but it was just gone. I was really bummed.

Then at the cash register where I was buying another pair (heels I never wear, I'm sure), he said that I could order the correct size online and it would be delivered to my door and at the last minute I decided to go for it. I mean, I could always return it to Nordy's, a whole two blocks away from my apartment, if for some reason I decided that the left shoe didn't fit, right? So when they came, like a week later I was so excited and I put them on and loved them.

But it was November or something and in Seattle you don't wear cute flats outside in November unless you are a crazy, so they sat in my closet for a few months. Neglected. Then the first time I wore them (the freakishly warm week in January), they absolutely KILLED my feet. They felt too small and I was kicking myself for not going with a larger size. I was so sad, but I refused to let them win and I kept wearing them just for shorter amounts of time and eventually the tight elastic stretched and now they are practically perfect in every way!

Oh yeah, and the whole reason I bought them in the first place was to replace a pair of cute black flats with white polka dots that I somehow lost back in October. All in all: a success!

Sometimes impulse buys are the BEST!
